Introduction.

Puck-Stat from Sonntag Sports is designed to be easy to use and offer the convenience, accessibility, and power of web-based software. By utilizing the power of the web Puck-Stat Online is able to provide all the benefits of the latest technology without the cost and storage requirements of a stand-alone software package. With Puck-Stat Online there is nothing to download.   This product was developed and adapted out of use in Canadian amateur hockey. It is designed for use by coaches, managers and stats keepers for minor and amateur hockey and ringette teams. Please take the time to read through this short help file. It will quickly familiarize you with Puck-Stat Online and contains many helpful tips.

Stats are kept in Puck-Stat Online in two main categories, Skaters and Goalies. Obviously, A player can accumutale both skaters atats and goal tending stats.

Puck-Stat Online allows you to add or delete as many player’s names as necessary. The initial lists of Skaters and Goalies is empty. Normally you will add a player name for every player who records stats during the season.

To add Players: choose Add Player from the menu on the right. Type the First name, last Name and Number of the Player and Click Submit the mouse. you want to add a player named "Others" for part-time players who are not expected to be a major contributor to the teams stats. When a player is added, his/her name is added to the list in alphabetical order. Indicate "Yes" if the Player is a Skaters (forward or defense) and/or Goalie. If a player has not yet recorded any stats by appearing in a game, they will not be displayed in the stats list. (You can verify a player has been added simply by clicking the Change Players link. Then click the browsers Back button to return to the previous page without making any changes.)

To delete a Player: choose Delete Player from the menu on the right. Caution: This function deletes the player, and his/her cumulative stats, from the season totals. You will be prompted to select the Player to delete.

To change or correct a Player name: choose Change Player from the menu. Edit the player data directly in the form boxes shown and click the "Change" button on the same row. You can only change one player at a time.

Adding Game data: click on Add Game in the menu at the right.  The form to add game data will be provided.  Enter all game information and check carefully before you Submit the data.  For Skaters and Goalies indicate a 1 in the game column if they appeared in the game and leave blank if they did not appear in the game.  to quickly add data, use the numeric keypad on your keyboard to enter the numbers and the TAB key to move quickly between input boxes in the form.  Enter the individual player stats as well as the opponent total stats.  If a player enters the game, but is not included in the statistic totals, it is still considered a game. For example, a role player that only plays one shift but does not make it onto the scoring sheet should be recorded as playing 1 game. Likewise, a goalie that enters a game, without making any saves or recording a shot on net, is recorded as playing one game.

Correcting Game data: If you make a data entry error, or need to correct a player's stats for a particular game, you can easily make corrections. click on 'Main' from the menu. Then click on the date of the game requiring a stat correction. Make any necessary changes directly in the tables then click the 'Submit Changes' button at the bottom of the form.

You can also change their Profile Description by clicking the link Add/Change Player Profile. Here you can add a description, player bio info, career or season highlights, etc. Enter the description then click the Submit button.

New Features

We have added a new feature on the Add Game page. Now when you enter in some player stats, such as goals, and some players stats, such as goals, the page will automatically add them to the opponent totals fields on the page. This happens on the fly so as you add a value, it will recalculate the opponent totals. We thought this might save you a little bit of data entry and make the system easier to use. You can test it out in the demo on www.puck-stat.com.
